The Insurance Bureau of Canada has released its list of most stolen vehicles for 2019 and the results are surprising.

Ford trucks dominate the list, taking eight of the top ten spots, but IBC’s list also includes a Honda Civic, a long-time member of this annual list. The big surprise, however, is Lexus’ hot-selling, current model RX crossover.

Here’s how they rank for 2019:

1. Ford 350SD AWD 2007
2. Ford 350SD AWD 2006
3. Ford 350SD AWD 2005
4. Ford 350SD AWD 2004
5. Ford 250SD AWD 2006
6. Ford 350SD AWD 2003
7. Lexus RX350/RX350L/RX450h/RX450hL 4DR AWD 2018
8. Ford F250 SD 4WD 2005
9. Ford F350 SD 4AWD 2002
10. Honda Civic Si 2DR Coupe 1998

Specific reasons behind these thefts are unclear, however, we’ve learned through a friend of VVUZZ that the Lexus RX is being stolen by thieves who clone the signal of the crossover’s remote key.

According to our friend, now a former Lexus RX 350 owner, his was stolen from his driveway – without its key – in a matter of seconds. If you’d like to learn more about this type of theft and how to protect yourself, What Car? has a great backgrounder on YouTube
