Accomplished rally driver Rosemary Smith was recently given the opportunity to pilot a Formula 1 car courtesy of Renault Sport. The one thing about Smith is that she’s 79 years old and Renault suggests it makes here the oldest person to drive one of these 800-horsepower pure bred racing machines.

Smith entered her first competition in 1961 and won countless rallies during her career, including two in Canada.

Born in Dublin, Ireland, Smith said that she didn’t think she’d ever get the opportunity to drive an F1 car, but Renault made it happen. We’re glad they did because piloting one of these cars is very special. Watch Smith’s experience here.
