If you thought the Hellcat was badass (as we do, admittedly), well, Dodge has got something even more mental.
The Dodge Challenger Hellcat sounds great and looks the business. With its 707 horsepower, we found that achieving wheelspin was effortless at highway speeds in third gear. That’s our kind of car. Plus, it annoys Audi-driving grannies at idle.
Today, with a cryptic press release and a Hollywood-style video, Dodge is promising to deliver the next level Challenger musclecar – the Demon – to debut at April’s New York Auto Show.
SRT big wig and all around gear head Tim Kuniskis said in the release, “The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is conceived, designed and engineered for a subculture of enthusiasts who know that a tenth is a car and a half second is your reputation.”
Whether this new Dodge is a widebody Challenger or an all-wheel drive Challenger – or both – we can’t speculate at the moment, but to us it sounds like Hellcat’s 707 horsepower is yesterday’s news and Dodge’s new standard for musclecar performance is going to raise the bar to unheard of levels. We can’t wait.
