For 2016, the Cadillac ATS gets the full on V treatment, a bump in power, refined aero, and a buttoned down chassis, making this small Cadillac massively potent.
Engineers added a pair of turbochargers to the 3.6-litre V6 and it produces 464 horsepower and 445 pounds of torque here. Unlike the BMW M3 and M4 fraternal twins, this six cylinder actually sounds good. Transmission choices are the brilliant new eight-speed auto or a very satisfying Tremec six-speed manual.
Brakes are by Brembo, tires by Michelin (Super Sports, of course), and the superb dampers are third-gen Magnetic Ride. The complete package is carefully calibrated by some pretty clever engineers, some of whom race, which you have to respect.
Speaking of which, if you plan to take your ATS-V to the track, you’ll want to opt for the Track Performance Package option, which deletes the sunroof, adds the tall rear wing and Performance Data Recorder, which is a built-in, race quality data acquisition system.
